The Story Behind Bible Collector Cards

The story behind the beginning of the Bible Collector Cards is unlike one you often read about from other businesses.

It all started back in 2001 when my wife and I were driving back to our home in Dallas, TX. We were traveling in our car on I-44 between Springfield and Joplin, MO.

While my wife was napping and I was driving, suddenly out of nowhere, I hear a voice that was as clear as if we were sitting next to one another having a conversation.

Immediately, I knew it was the Lord speaking.

He calmly said, “Baseball cards”.

I said, yes Lord, I have a collection of them. But what are you talking about?

He then said, “Football cards”.

Again, I said, yes Lord, I have a few of those. Why do you ask?

Then He said, “Pokemon cards”.

I told Him no, I don’t have those or know anything about them. Why?

Next, He asked me, “Where are My cards?” It was an incredible moment. His voice was not angry, it sounded almost sad and hurt.

That was it. He said nothing else. Now you can only imagine what was going through my mind at this point and time. Tears are running down my face. I pull into a rest area and wake my wife up to tell her what had just happened.

As we’re talking my mind is racing with thoughts and questions.

Is this for real? What has just happened?

Is this an episode of the Twilight Zone?

Who am I to do something like this? How?

Despite all of the unanswered questions and fears, I started the project. All of my free time for the next many months was dedicated to working on the cards.

As I completed all of the card ideas and the scripture verses, etc., it was time for the artwork. Not being an artist or graphic designer, I hit a brick wall so to speak.

At this point I began talking to various design firms and getting names of other artists to speak with. I was met with nothing but dead-ends, but did meet with some phenomenal people.

That said, the one firm that offered to take on the project wanted nearly a half million dollars at the time, money which I didn’t have.

We contacted potential investors to ask them to join us so that we could get the cards designed and released, but again, we found no one to help. But they did all tell us that the idea was great and that they wanted a set of cards if they get done.

After months of calls and speaking with countless people to no avail, the project stalled. Why? Why would God speak so clearly and give me this project and then not make a way for it to be completed?

I questioned whether or not God really did speak this to me. Or was God simply giving me this project in order to see if I would follow through or not? Like Abraham did when God told him to sacrifice Isaac. A test to see if I would really follow His Word.

As the following weeks turned into months, and months turned into years, the card project just sat… but it was never forgotten.

Then… a miracle.

Fast forward 24 years to today. Yes, 24 years later! Out of nowhere, God suddenly made it possible for us to get the images for ALL of the cards. God made a way where there seemed to be no way.
